How Sodium Hypochlorite Generation Works

 

1. Electrolysis of brine (NaCl solution) occurs when current passes through the titanium electrodes
2. Chlorine gas forms at the anode through oxidation of chloride ions
3. Chlorine reacts with sodium hydroxide (produced at the cathode) to form sodium hypochlorite
4. The resulting NaClO solution is a safe, effective disinfectant
