The role of titanium anodes in green clean energy


  Titanium andoes themselves do not directly generate clean energy,but they serve as the"heart"component of numerous clean energy and environmental protection technologies,being crucial for achieving high efficency,longevity ,and low cost in these clean technologies.

First of all,the titanium anode is not ordinary titanium metal,but a coated titanium anode(also known as DSA,Dimensionally stable anode).It consists of a pure titanium substrate coated with a layer of precious metal oxide(such as ruthenium/iridium/platinum)as a catalytic coating.

 

A:Stability:

Titanium itself forms a dense oxide film during electrolysis, preventing corrosion of the substrate.

B:Catalytic Properties:

The surface coating of precious metal oxides significantly reduces the energy required for electrochemical reactions (overpotential), making the reaction more efficient and energy-saving.

 

C:Long Service Life:

This combination enables titanium anodes to last several times, or even tens of times, longer than traditional graphite or lead anodes. They require almost no replacement, reducing maintenance costs and resource consumption.

 A:Highly efficient treatment of difficult-to-degrade organic wastewater

Working Principle: During electrolysis, the titanium anode surface directly generates highly oxidizing hydroxyl radicals or converts chloride ions in water into strong oxidants like chlorate and hypochlorous acid. This process thoroughly decomposes organic pollutants without producing secondary pollution. It represents a highly clean and efficient end-of-pipe treatment technology.

B:Cathodic Protection

Used to shield metal structures like ports, bridges, ships, and subsea pipelines from electrochemical corrosion. This clean protective method extends infrastructure lifespan and conserves resources through technical means
