Titanium Alloy Companies Have Higher Performance Growth

Titanium alloy companies have higher performance growth from military upstream analysis

Due to the low density, high specific strength, and good compatibility with carbon fiber composite materials, titanium alloy materials have been widely used as aerospace structural materials.

Nearly 8% of the titanium alloy is used on the B777 airplane. The nearly β-type titanium alloy Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al own good forgeability and used as the landing gear of the B777 airplane, and each uses 5.9 tons of titanium. Ti-15Mo-10.7Nb-3Al-0.2Si, It is resistant to oxidation and corrosion, which is major used for rear fairings. Except the traditional parts of the B787 aircraft using titanium alloys just like the suspension and landing gear structure, due to the substantial increase in the amount of composite materials used in the B787 airplane and the good compatibility for  titanium alloys and composite materials, titanium alloys have also replaced many parts Aluminum alloy makes the amount of titanium used on the B787 aircraft reach to 15%.

The most of titanium alloy used in air plane is relatively stable, lower than steel, but with the gradual increasing in the amount of composite materials, the amount of steel decreasing, while the amount of titanium alloy gradually increasing. For example, the amount of composite materials are using in Airbus has increasing from 5.5% in the third-generation airliner A320 ,and 8% in the fourth-generation airliner A340, and the corresponding amount of titanium has increased from 4.5% to 6%. The amount of composite materials in the A380 has reaching to 25%. The  alloy increasing to 10%. Except the Boeing 787, the A350 is currently the model  using the  composite materials, with an amount to 52%, and the amount of corresponding titanium alloys has  increased to 14% too.

The main parts of the A350 passenger airplanet that use titanium alloy including engine suspension, cabin doors, wing structure, seat rails, landing gear,  heat shield of auxiliary power cabin. The most of titanium alloy used in the C series aircraft reached to 8%. The mid-body rear beam frame and tail cone butt frame adopt Ti-6Al-4V which is compatible with the compatible materials.
