Features
Hypochlorous acid water has no corrosion effect on stainless steel, slight corrosion effect on copper and aluminum, moderate corrosion effect on carbon steel. In order to avoid damage to metal products caused by long-term use, articles made of potentially corroded metal should be cleaned with tap water or sterile water according to the requirements of the disinfection level.
How It Works
The generator operates on the principle of electrolysis through a diaphragm cell. A low-concentration saltwater solution is introduced into the electrolytic chamber, where an electric current drives the separation of ions. At the anode, chloride ions (Cl⁻) are oxidized to chlorine gas (Cl₂), which immediately reacts with water to form hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). At the same time, water is reduced at the cathode, generating hydrogen gas (H₂) and hydroxide ions (OH⁻). The ion-selective membrane allows sodium ions (Na⁺) to migrate to the cathode compartment, where they combine with OH⁻ to form sodium hydroxide (NaOH), while keeping the anolyte at an optimal pH of 5.0–6.5, where over 98.5% of the active chlorine exists as HOCl.
