The development of my country's non-ferrous metal industry

During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, my country's non-ferrous metal industry has accelerated the transformation of its development mode by deepening supply-side structural reforms, and has made great efforts in structural adjustment, innovation-driven, application expansion, and international cooperation. Positive results have been achieved in other aspects, and we are marching forward on the road of high-quality development.

The industrial structure is more reasonable. As the economy shifts from a stage of high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development, the transformation and upgrading of the non-ferrous metal industry has achieved remarkable results, and important progress has been made in structural adjustment. In the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the output of major non-ferrous metals increased by 3.6% annually, and continued to be the  first of the world; copper and aluminum processing was passed "repairing short plates and forging long plates", and the self-sufficiency of main varieties exceeded 90%; electrolytic aluminum production capacity is disorderly The expansion momentum has been effectively curbed, and substantial results have been achieved in resolving excess capacity; the rise of a number of clusters that closely integrate the upstream and downstream of the non-ferrous metal industry chain has promoted the cluster development of the industry; the production and operation scale of the industry's leading enterprises has entered the forefront of the world.

Innovation-driven bears fruit. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, my country's non-ferrous metal industry relied on technological innovation, and its overall strength has been significantly enhanced. The overall industrial technology and equipment have reached the international advanced level, and 64 national key laboratories and engineering (technology) research centers have been established. New breakthroughs have been made in the research and development of aluminum and titanium alloy materials for aerospace, which not only meet the requirements of major national projects, but also enter the market of developed countries in batches; the research and development of new energy vehicle power battery materials has entered the world's advanced ranks, and has accounted for more than 70% of the world's market share.

Breakthroughs have been made in expanding applications. my country's non-ferrous metal industry takes the expansion of application as a breakthrough, promotes supply-side structural reform, and increases effective supply. The demand for aluminum materials for lightweight transportation has increased significantly, the construction aluminum formwork market has experienced explosive growth, and aluminum furniture has gradually gained market recognition. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, domestic aluminum consumption increased by more than 5 million tons. The application ability and level of copper, titanium, rare earth functional materials and other materials have been continuously improved, and the application level of my country's non-ferrous metal materials has generally been at the forefront of the world.

Steady progress in open development. Through international cooperation to expand new development space for the industry, the non-ferrous metal industry has not only built a large number of resource bases overseas, and improved the raw material guarantee capabilities of copper, aluminum, nickel, cobalt, lithium and other "emerging minerals", but also the overseas non-ferrous metal processing layout has been comprehensive. The development has further consolidated the position of my country's copper pipes, copper rods and aluminum profiles in international competition, and the influence and voice of rare earth, tungsten, tin, antimony, indium and other advantageous products have been gradually improved.

2021 is the first year for the "14th Five-Year Plan". my country's non-ferrous metal production maintains steady growth, the total investment in fixed assets achieves positive growth, the non-ferrous metal enterprises above the scale achieve a record high profit, green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading, and the effect of ensuring supply and stabilizing prices. Significantly, the reform and innovation are steadily advancing, and the international competitiveness and the ability to resist risks are increasing day by day.
