Production process method of titanium
At present, the industrial method of titanium processing is to melt and cast sponge titanium into ingots and then process them into titanium materials. The traditional methods of titanium processing mainly include plastic processing, casting and powder metallurgy methods.
The principle process of titanium production is shown in Figure 10-1.
In addition to pure titanium, more than 40 types of titanium alloys have been produced in the world. The most widely used titanium alloys are Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-5Al-2.5sn. The common titanium alloy grades and their properties in my country are shown in Table 102 and Table 11-24 ~ Table 11-26.
9.1.2. 1 Plastic processing
Plastic processing methods include forging, rolling, extrusion, drawing and stamping, spinning, etc., which can process titanium ingots into plates, strips, strips, foils, tubes, rods, shapes, wires, and forgings of various shapes and sizes. And stamping parts and other products.
Plastic processing of titanium and titanium alloys has large deformation resistance, plastic difference at room temperature, high yield limit and strength limit ratio, large springback, sensitivity to notches, and easy adhesion to the mold during deformation.
It is easy to absorb harmful gases when heated, and plastic processing is more difficult than steel and copper. Therefore, the processing technology of titanium and titanium alloys must take these characteristics into consideration. Titanium and titanium alloy are suitble for plastic processing, the processing size is not controled, and it can be mass-produced in Bao ji Ruicheng titanium metal Co.,Ltd. Plastic processing is the dominant method in iron processing, and most titanium products are produced by this method.
9.1.2.2 Casting
Compared with the plastic processing method, the casting titanium alloy process has the characteristics of high material utilization rate.
In the production of titanium alloy parts with complex shapes or difficult plastic processing, the characteristics and advantages of the casting process are more prominent.
The simple casting process is: material preparation + melting + casting → finishing heat treatment (or hot isostatic pressing).
9.1.2.3 Powder metallurgy
In the processing of titanium and titanium alloys, powder metallurgy is a new near-net forming process. The titanium powder metallurgy process is the same with ordinary powder metallurgy, except that the sintering should be carried out under vacuum. It is suitable for the production of large-volume, small-sized parts, which is conducive to reducing costs. The concise technological process of powder metallurgy of titanium is: titanium powder (or titanium alloy powder) → sieving and mixing → press forming → sintering → auxiliary processing. This method almost does not need to be processed anymore, and the finished product is high. It can make full use of the residual titanium material as raw material and reduce the production cost.
