Application of titanium alloy in the acoustic device
May 23, 2022
Titanium alloy materials can also be used for acoustic devices on ships, such as sonar deflector, hydroacoustic h-energy components, microphones, telephone parts and so on. Sonar is the most effective equipment for underwater target detection. Stainless steel and fiber reinforced glass fiber are used in China, but compared with titanium alloy, its sound permeability and crashworthiness are relatively weak. Russia has applied titanium sonar fairings to the Kursk nuclear submarine, the Minsk aircraft carrier and the Kifu aircraft carrier, with good sonar detection results in practice.
Ship is an important part of national naval force, so it is very important to choose excellent materials for ship manufacturing. Titanium alloy material has many excellent properties and can be widely used in ship manufacturing. The research and development and application of titanium alloy for ships have been developed for decades by military powers in the world, and there are many successful cases in ship shell, power propulsion device, pipeline, sonar and other aspects. At present, these countries still regard titanium alloy as a new material of strategic significance and attach importance to the research and application of titanium alloy. In the future, there will be more excellent performance of titanium alloy materials and successful applications.
