Titanium and titanium alloy have low density, high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance in acidic environment, which have high application value in hydrogen fuel cell bipolar plate.  The research progress of titanium bipolar plates used in hydrogen fuel cells in recent years was reviewed, and the research achievements of surface modification technology of titanium bipolar plates were described in detail, including doping alloying elements, coating metal base coating (noble metal, metal carbon/nitride, etc.) and carbon base coating (graphite, amorphous carbon, etc.).  The composite and nano-structure of the coating is beneficial to improve the corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and hydrophobicity of titanium bipolar plate, which plays an important role in improving the performance of hydrogen fuel cell and ensuring its stability and durability.
